If There Were A Title, It Would Go Here

I really don’t have alot to say about the past two weeks or so since I wrote here, so I thought I’d just add some pictures and videos of some of the recent goings on that have taken place.  In short, it was Kyle’s Birthday last weekend so we all went miniature golfing which was cool and the night before that we hosted a karaoke evening on our back patio.  All I can say is wow.

Too Complacent?

I’ve kind of gotten in a routine during the past month and while I wouldn’t really say it is a bad thing, I sometimes wonder if I have become too complacent with how things are and where they are going.  I’ve always been the type of person who feels uncomfortable if I am not learning something new or progressing in a quantifiable way.  Recently, that has not been the case.  My job is extremely flexible and allows me to do close to whatever I want.  Although I usually wake up each day around 6:30 or 7:00, sometimes I don’t get out the door until 9:30 or 10:00 and then I work until maybe 4:30 or 5:30, which is around an 8 hour day (I rarely eat lunch).  Then at night, sometimes I watch a movie, read a book, or play some board games with the roommates (we’ve recently been hooked on Scrabble and Boggle).  In other words, life is pretty chill and I kind of like it, but on the other hand, I also feel as though I’ve just accepted where I am in life and have no desire to better myself.  I know that is not the case because I am constantly (really, constantly) thinking about things I’d like to do and learn, but not right now.  I suppose it is merely a struggle within myself.  It is the summer though and when I really contemplate it, I need the break.

cimg0704.JPGSo I mentioned something about reading at night every now and then.  I took a trip to Barnes and Noble one evening and purchase some classic books I’ve always heard about but never read.  They have printed these a number of books that have been placed in the public domain in hard-cover and paperback for really cheap, so I got a bit excited and purchased a few of them.  The roommates and I have decided to read some books together this summer and we previously decided to start on Fahrenheit 451. We have all made it through and when we get around to it, I think we are going to try and discuss it book-club-like and see what we can learn from one another.  I had never read that book before and really, really enjoyed it.  It absolutely astonished me that Ray Bradbury was able to predict so many things that are a part of our daily lives and the struggle and situations we have some 50 years ago.  Simply amazing.  There were some really good quotes I will have to go and find which made me think and ponder quite a bit.  I’ve moved on to Gulliver’s Travels and even though it was written in the late 1700s and a bit difficult to understand, quite humorous.  However, I might place that on hold to read Bridge to Terabithia with the roommates because we went to see the movie recently at the dollar theatre and enjoyed the story line.

Other than just day to day stuff, not a whole lot else going on in my life right now.  Below are some picture of the hike we went on for Memorial Day last week to Silver Lake up in American Fork canyon.
